Raymond Roberts is the CEO and co-founder of Citizant Inc. He is responsible for developing and driving an achievable strategic plan and provides vision, direction and leadership to help the company reach its goals. This includes fostering a high performance culture led by outstanding talent, developing external relationships to increase market awareness of Citizant, and developing and leading the company’s strategy for profitable growth. Roberts founded the company in 1999 with business partner and former Texas Instruments colleague Alba M. Alemán. They started the company as a subcontractor on a project for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Within five years, the company had 50 employees, was serving more than 10 government customers and had revenues of more than $10 million. For this growth, it was recognized nationally and locally as being one of the fastest-growing businesses in the Greater Washington area. Since 2003, the company has annually been listed as one of the fastest growing and largest Hispanic-owned businesses in the country by Hispanic Business. In September 2004, Washington Technology featured the company, which was ranked No. 1 on its Fast 50 list as a result of achieving five consecutive years of nearly 200 percent annual growth. Roberts leverages nearly 25 years of significant entrepreneurial, financial, sales, management and business experience to help him drive the company’s ongoing success. He began his career in the information technology industry during the 1980s holding a variety of senior management positions and has a long track record of success in building entrepreneurial businesses. Roberts has been a founder, owner and senior officer of four information technology and government services firms, including Citizant, since the early 1990s. His other enterprises included Everware Inc., Case Software Consulting and DLR Software Options. In addition to being a founder of these firms, Roberts also served as a consultant on major IT project inititiatives for such customers as British Columbia Telecom Co., The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, ATT, the Department of the Treasury’s Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Defense’s Joint Logistics Systems Command. At age 19 while attending university, he started his first professional services business, providing local high school students with college tutors. Roberts is a member of the Potomac Officers Club and is a dynamic speaker, having presented at various events on quality business management and leadership, including one hosted by SmartCEO.
