Michael Darby Principal
Michael Darby is a principal and co-founder of Monument Realty, one of Washington, DC's leading real estate development firms. Mr. Darby and his partner, Jeffrey T. Neal, oversee the firm's diverse work throughout the region, including a portfolio of more than five million square feet of office, residential, and hotel space. Current projects include The Watergate, Dumbarton Place, Potomac Place, The Connecticut, and Columbia Center in Washington, DC; and The Odyssey, The Hawthorn, and The Palatine in Arlington, Virginia.
Mr. Darby has been active in the Washington region's construction and development industry for more than 20 years. Prior to founding Monument Realty in 1998, he served as a senior vice president for The John Akridge Companies. He also directed a number of major downtown development projects while with The Oliver Carr Company, including such landmark restoration projects as the Willard Hotel and the Southern Railway Building.
Michael Darby's career began halfway around the world, in his native Australia, where he first worked with a Melbourne-based general contractor. He holds a degree in Construction Engineering and Business Development from the University of Melbourne. Since relocating to the Washington area, Mr. Darby has been one of the industry's most visible advocates, and has been active in many regional real estate organizations.
