Lindsay Buscher, Urban Chic’s owner and buyer, grew up in Long Island, New York where she developed a taste for fashion at an early age. At twelve years old she dragged her mom to the local mall to buy a pair of the latest Guess jeans – the beginning of a lifelong quest to find the perfect pair of jeans.

Lindsay’s flair for all that is stylish continued to grow throughout high school and college. Lindsay graduated from Salisbury University in 1999 with a degree in political science and received a graduate degree in Public Administration in 2004. Her true passions lay in the fashion industry though.  She grew up working in retail alongside her mother and worked in several women’s retailers throughout college. Four years spent working at J. Crew, as well as The Gap and Express, provided her with the firsthand experience needed to run and manage her own store.

Lindsay moved to Baltimore, Maryland in 2000 and soon noticed that there was a lack of trendy boutiques in the Baltimore/Washington area that carried both sophisticated and casual clothing. In 2003, she married Chris Buscher.  Chris motivated her to open her own boutique, and gave her the support and encouragement she needed. Having worked for large corporate retailers, Lindsay knew she wanted to create a store that offered a more personal and intimate environment for the customer.  In 2004 she opened Urban Chic with the idea of providing women with fun and feminine upscale fashions and accessories.

Lindsay, along with sister, Courtney Cannata, handpicks the clothing that is sold in her stores. She selects a wide range of styles in order to satisfy the tastes of Urban Chic's diverse customers.  Lindsay’s selections reflect a distinctive feminine yet wearable style.

In the fall of 2005, in addition to having her first child, she opened the second location of Urban Chic, in Maryland’s newest high-end retail development, Maple Lawn.  In 2006, the brand expanded online with the launch of their e-commerce site, www.urbanchiconline.com.  Two more brick and mortar stores are to open in the summer of 2007, one in her own backyard, Baltimore’s Harbor East and the second in the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.  Urban Chic’s growth will continue in 2008 with locations opening in Bethesda, Maryland and in Prince George’s County, Maryland.  Lindsay and her husband continue to be involved in all aspects of the stores, from merchandising and buying to business development.
